Your Guide to the Snowmobiling Trails at Priest Lake

Snowmobiling is one of the most popular winter activities in Northern Idaho. Experience windswept ridges, snow-filled bowls, and breathtaking views from every vantage point. Jump-start your winter adventures with these snowmobiling trails at Priest Lake.

About the snowmobiling trails at Priest Lake

This natural winter paradise of the Priest Lake basin has created the ideal environment for winter activities such as snowmobiling. Due to the area’s love of snowmobiles, the Priest Lake area has created a groomed trail system that features over 400 miles of trails that weave their way up 7,000-foot snowy mountain peaks. Priest Lake had the first groomer program in the state of Idaho.

The groomed trail system encircles both Priest Lake and Upper Priest Lake and offers easy access to spectacular powder-hound play areas. The snowmobiling trails at Priest Lake are mostly located on either state or federal forest service roads ranging in elevation from 2,500 to over 7,000-feet. You can view a full map of the trails along with a grooming status update so you can know before you go!

Because of the activity’s increased popularity, the Priest Lake area has employed two full-time groomers and maintained two warming huts with trails leading to all the local resorts, restaurants, and businesses.

The best part about the snowmobiling trails at Priest Lake is that they don’t require you to trailer your equipment to the trailhead. The trail system can be easily accessed from the doorstep of your cabin at Elkins Resort.

With access to hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails, Elkins Resort on Priest Lake is truly a snowmobiler’s limitless paradise. Located minutes from two trailheads, the beautiful Selkirk mountains can be accessed right from your cabin door. Many of our guests access Watson Mountain, where they were rewarded with breathtaking views of Priest Lake.

After a long day’s journey of snowmobiling through the snowy mountains, riders can return to Elkins Resort to an award-winning restaurant featuring unique seasonal dishes created by some of the Pacific Northwest’s finest chefs. Join us in the lounge and watch the snowfall while contemplating another day of riding through northern Idaho’s winter wonderland.
