A winter wonderland at Priest LakeDecember 14, 2017
Go walking in a winter wonderland this season with the snowy activities at Priest Lake! There’s never a bad time to visit Priest Lake and have an amazing outdoor adventure – especially when you can fill your days with these activities and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains and snow-covered trees!
Hiking or snowshoeing
Put on your sturdiest pair of winter boots or pop on your snowshoes for a nice hike around Priest Lake in the snow! Many of the surrounding hiking trails are suitable for snowshoeing during the winter months as well.
Get a bit more distance with each stride with cross-country skiing at the Priest Lake Golf Course! You’ll find groomed and maintained trails at the course as well as trackless trails surrounding it.
We’ve been lucky to be listed as a top snowmobiling destination for the past few years and it’s easy to see why with access to hundreds of miles of groomed trails in the Selkirk Mountains as well as two warming huts for quick breaks from your ride. Go dashing through the snow this winter atop your snowmobile for a thrilling experience, and panoramic views, you won’t soon forget!
Play in the snow
It’s easy to feel like a kid again when you’re away from work and it’s OK to play in the snow around here by having a snowball fight, building a snowman, or making a snow fort if you’re so inclined.
We’ve got some wildlife that stays in the area year-round and can be a fun thing to keep a lookout for during a hike or simple walk around the lake. Have your camera ready to capture shots of our local deer and squirrels.
Savor some hot chocolate
Bring cocoa mix and make some hot chocolate to sip around your fireplace in your cabin at Elkins Resort or stop by our on-site restaurant for an adult beverage to warm you from the inside out!
Bundle up and head outside on a clear winter’s night for some exceptional stargazing.
Plan your winter adventure in Priest Lake by finding the perfect cabin to get cozy in when you’ve returned from your snowy outdoor adventures!
